A Xenia Car Plunged into Fountain

A Daihatsu Xenia car F 1652 CP plunged into fountain roundabout on Jl. Teuku Umar, Menteng, Central Jakarta. This accident was allegedly caused by its driver who drove the vehicle at high speed and drunk. There was no casualty reported, although the vehicle is badly damaged.

According to AKBP Budiyanto, Head of Traffic Accident Unit for Central Jakarta Resort Police, before plunged to the fountain, the car was speeding and somehow hit the fountain barrier. “Probably because the alcohol, since it smells from the driver’s mouth. This incident happened in early morning at about 4 AM,” he explained, Friday (11/4).

Meanwhile, Menteng Sector Police Head Pol. Comr. Didi Hayamansyah stated that before the incident happened, the car driver was chasing another vehicle whose its driver was involved in fight with him before. “Previously, the Xenia driver was involved in fighting with another group in Bakudapa Café on Jl. Wahid Hasyim, Menteng. The fight caused one person injured. It’s still unknown whether the injured person was in the car or not,” he told.

However, he continued, there were three drunk passengers in the car. Unfortunately, Didi could not explain the car passengers’ identity because they are still being questioned. This incident caused the car as well as the fountain damaged. “The car has been evacuated by Central Jakarta Traffic Unit,” he added.
